Dixon band to feature folk songs: Concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at Page Park band shell

DIXON – The Dixon Municipal Band will play at 7:30 tonight at the Page Park band shell.

The theme of the evening is “Folk Songs from around the World,” featuring Western Illinois University student conductor Jessica Todd of Mount Carroll.

Next week the band will feature Emily Nunemaker-Bressler as guest conductor. She is the director of bands at West Carroll High School in Savanna.       

Tonight’s concert selections will include: “Amparito Roca” by Jaime Texidor, “Cajun Folk Songs” by Frank Ticheli, “Fantasy on a Japanese Folk Song” by Samuel Hazo,
“Greek Folk Song Suite” by Franco Cesarini, “Three Studies in English Folk Song” by Ralph Vaughan Williams, “American Folk Suite by Harold Walters, “Chorale and Shaker Dance” by John Zdechlik, “Scotch Folk Suite” by Albert Oliver Davis, “Buggies Belles and Bicycles” arranged by James Ployhar, and “Flores de Espana” arranged by John Edmondson.
