Never taken a boat ride on the mighty Mississippi? A short trip to the Quad Cities could rectify that situation.

Here are four possibilities:

The Twilight

The public boat landing in downtown LeClaire, Iowa, offers 2-day, overnight, round-trip cruises up to Dubuque, Iowa. This is a riverboat with dining salons, sundecks, river music and stories of days gone by.

Its season begins May 24, leaving every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday through October.

There’s an overnight stay at the Grand Harbor Resort in Dubuque. Double occupancy is $329 a person. Visit www.riverboattwilight.com or call 800-331-1467.

The Celebration Belle

2501 River Drive, Moline, an 800-passenger riverboat, has many cruises from which to choose – sightseeing, luncheon, dinner and musical.

The ship boards at several ports, depending on the cruise. Its season is March through November. Prices vary.

Visit www.celebrationbelle.com or call            800-297-0034.

The Riversong

The boat docks at the foot of Wisconsin Street in downtown LeClaire, has 35- to 40-minute narrated sightseeing tours that include music and singing by Capt. John Vize.

Each seat is a window seat in this 1959 former canal tour boat from New York.

Daily rides are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., every hour, Wednesday through Sunday, Memorial Day through October. Cost is $10 a person. Call 309-792-5388.

The Channel Cat Water Taxi

A 47-passenger, open-air boat that transports passengers between five landings. It follows a loop all day.

Operations run Memorial Day through Labor Day; then weekends in September.

The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children 2-10.

Among the stops are John Deere Commons Landing at 123th Street in Moline and behind the Isle Casino in Bettendorf, Iowa.
