Missiles shoot down Pecatonica-Durand

Taylor Kent drove in five runs and Keali Engelkens struck out 10 in a five-inning no-hitter to lead the Milledgeville-Polo Missiles to a 16-0 victory in NUIC East play at Durand.

Andrea Herin had three hits and three RBIs for the Missiles, and Engelkens added two hits and drove in two runs. M-P blew the game open with a seven-run third inning, then finished it off with a five-run fifth. Pec-Durand managed just one baseunner in the game on Engelkens’ lone walk.

Rock Island 2, Rock Falls 0: Taylor Byrd allowed just three hits and didn’t walk a batter, but the Rockets’ offense couldn’t get going at Rock Island.

Rock Falls (11-4) managed just three hits, including a double by Ashlen Folkers.

Erie-Prophetstown 1, Amboy 0: Sydney Stewart gave up three hits and struck out nine to lead the Panthers to a Three Rivers win on the road.

Stewart, Taylor Jackson and Shannon Kuepker all had hits for E-P. Kiaya Contreras, Katie Nauman and Hillary Liebing had hits for the Clippers.

Scales Mound 6, AFC 5: The Hornets pushed across a run in the bottom of the seventh to pull out a home win over the Raiders.

Kim Mairs and Aubrey Kennay each had two hits for AFC (5-5, 1-3 NUIC East) and Brook White had two RBIs. Grace Kennay was the losing pitcher.

Sauk Valley 6-5, Waubonsee 3-9: Kayla Grennan hit a two-run homer in the first game and a three-run shot in the nightcap as the Skyhawks split two games in Sugar Grove.

Lynsey Young was the winning pitcher in the opener.
