LANARK – A benefit is being held Saturday for a 20-year-old Lanark man paralyzed in a car accident Oct. 30 in Carroll County.

Josh Meador, son of Larry Meador and Lindy Swanson, both of Lanark, is being treated at the Rehabilitation Institute in Chicago.

“He’s just getting a little movement in his arms,” his dad said.

The benefit is running in two places – from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Heritage Center, 106 S. Broad St., and from 10 a.m. to midnight at   Dave’s Place, 121 N. Broad St.

There will be a bake sale and a silent auction featuring gift items at the center. Pizza, turkey stuffing and sandwiches will be served at Dave’s; admission is $3 that day. At 5 p.m., a live auction of items such as Beach Boys and Chicago Cubs tickets, a Nintendo Wii and a laptop computer will begin.

For more information about donating bake sale goods, call 815-493-6607. For more information about the benefit, call DeeAnn Offill, 815-684-5778.

An account for donations to help pay Josh Meador’s ongoing medical bills has been established at Exchange State Bank of Lanark, 126 N. Broad St., Lanark, IL 61046.
